Description:

In this course you will learn about the sensory characteristics and production practices of wines from the Old World wine producing countries of France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia and the Balkans, the Former Soviet Republics, Greece, Eastern Mediterranean and Cyprus . You will explore the geography, history, grape varieties, wine styles and wine making philosophies of these countries. The theory elements of the course are supplemented most weeks by a series of practical tasting sessions that highlight the country or region of study.
